Become a Mentor

What is Mentoring?
A structured and trusting relationship that brings young people together with caring individuals who offer guidance, support and encouragement aimed at developing the competence and character of the mentees.

Can YOU be a…
Nurturer, Advocate, Coach, Cheerleader, Confidant, Friend, Supporter and a Positive Role Model?

How Can Mentoring Help?
It has been demonstrated that mentoring is an important force for improving the lives of youth. The mentoring process increases the likelihood of regular school attendance and academic achievement, while decreasing the chances of engaging in self-destructive or negative behavior.

Can YOU:
•Devote one hour a week for one year to youth mentoring at the PAL Community Center?
•Provide documentation for a background check?
•Attend a two-hour mentor training session?

“Never doubt that a group of thoughtful, committed citizens could change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” –Margaret Mead
