Community Center

The community center is located at 52 Ash Street in the heart of Nashua 's "at-risk" neighborhoods. The Center is open Monday through Friday, to youth 7 - 18 years of age and serves an average of 30-40 youth daily. It is a free membership facility offering recreation room activities such as table tennis, pool, air hockey and a boxing gym located on the second floor. Outdoor activities such as basketball and street hockey are also played, weather permitting. Another aspect of the Center is the enrichment programming offered within its many rooms.
Programs such as Homework Help, Movie Club, Computer Lab, Cub Scouts, Girl Power, Music Magic and Arts and Crafts are a main focus of the YSH staff. The Center is staffed with adult volunteers, NH National Guard, a Civilian Director and up to two Nashua Police Officers.
In February of 2005 the Milton S. Eisenhower Foundation came to Nashua and teamed up with the Nashua School Department, the Nashua Housing Authority, the Nashua Police Department and the Nashua Police Athletic League. This partnership has allowed us to reach out and offer a direction for mentoring more of the "at-risk" youth living in and around the "Tree Streets" of Nashua.
gameroom
Game Room
Our newly remodeled game room provides a safe, fun environment for the children to play games while learning sportsmanship, developing fine motor skills such as hand eye coordination and of course respect and responsibility toward their peers and the staff. The game room also doubles as an indoor playroom for games such as beach volleyball and badminton, when weather prohibits outdoor activities. We offer time for free play, as well as organized tournament play at each of the tables.[more]

Homework Club
Homework Club runs daily from 3 to 4pm. We have developed a system where each of the participants can earn points during this time for attendance, behavior, homework completed, helping others, as well as independent reading and subject specific activities offered throughout the school year. Once points have been earned they cannot be lost, but they can be traded in. [more]

Computer Lab

Well, we're hoping to bring that same excitement to all the children here at the Community Center through our literacy program. [more]

Scouting
The Community Center staff work in conjunction with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America to provide opportunities for our youth to participate in their various clubs. Weekly meetings are held for children participating in the Cub Scouts, Webelos, Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts as well as the Venture Scout program. Badges are earned both through activities designed specifically for the scouts, as well as for community projects offered to all center members. [more]
